Why do you use Talers as a currency between the Members ?
We need some way to account for the contributions and searches of each member. A Taler (or Thaler or Tolar) was a silver coin used throughout Europe. Its name lives on in various currencies as the dollar or tolar. We use it as the currency between the members of the Official Board. Members who contribute information are paid in Talers, which they can then spend to get detailed information about an executive or company.
How do I earn Talers ?
It's simple! By providing new contacts (10 Talers each) or by updating existing contacts (5 Talers each). In my account, you can find a balance statement and the history of your contributions.
How do I spend Talers ?
When you click on
to view the details of contacts in an org chart, 1 taler is deducted. You can view an entire org chart. When you click on
at the top of the chart, 5 Talers are deducted. In my account, you can find the history of your searches and alerts, and see your Taler balance.
How can I search without spending Talers ?
As Member, you have free unlimited access to all the names, titles, industries and countries. You can also get email alerts on the companies or on the keywords you choose, with the names and the titles of the updated executives. With the NetWorker and the Premium memberships, you can also search executives with different criteria.
You start spending Talers only when you click to view one executive (1 Taler) or all the executives of the org chart (which might contain over 50 executives) for only 5 Talers.
What would I get as visitor ?
As visitor, you can search all the companies, consult the org chart with all the titles and see a few names. A visitor can see all the functions included in each org chart with the initials of its occupants. A visitor can search all the org charts by industry and by country. In each org chart, a few executive’s names are provided. Visitors cannot enter data.
Why a grid with rates of exchange ?
It fixes the relation between a contribution and a search consultation on the basis of one contribution allows between 10 and 20 consumptions. This makes the circulation free for any small contributors.
Where can I find a grid with rates of exchange ?
Here is our chart which explains the exchange rates for contributions (entered data) and consultations (searches). Remember, you get a lot for a little in terms of contributions.
I am a Watcher and want to become a NetWorker, will I get the welcome bonus ?
Yes, as soon as you have validated your 3 first contacts or earned 30 Talers, you get all the benefits of a NetWorker Membership, including the Welcome Bonus of 50 Talers.
I entered data today. When can I use my Talers ?
Sometimes it takes a day or two for your changes to be verified. While your identity is confidential, as a courtesy to the executives on the chart, we send them notifications when something changes in their org charts or contact info. On My Account, you follow the validation steps on each of your contribution. Your Talers should be granted within 2 to 10 days depending on the executive answer.
Why didn't you accept my contributions?
There are several reasons a contribution might be denied: the data is disputed by an executive or another member, you may have duplicated data that was already in our system or there may be an obvious mistake. If there is a problem or a dispute, the moderation team will do our best to provide the maximum possible number of Talers to each contributor. Our goal is to post the right information and satisfy our contributors. If you have any questions, please email us at contact@theofficialboard.com.
